There is a circle of life that takes place all around us and it is no more evident than in the mountains of the Asuke area in Toyota City. Gain rare insight into this circle of life as staff from local venison and boar meat butcher Yamakei walk you through how to butcher deer and let you try it yourself should you be so inclined, letting you viscerally experience what it is to receive life directly from Mother Nature. This process helps to highlight the gifts nature grants us with incredibly nutritious meat while bestowing a feeling of gratitude to the animals and the workers who provide this meat. Enjoy the bounty of the surrounding area with a BBQ lunch serving wild boar meat and venison.
From the afternoon, another experience making use of the local wildlife begins as the owner of Sanshu Shishimori Shachu Workshop instructs you on how to make your own necklace with a pendant made from deer antlers—often discarded after harvesting the venison. Help to use normally discarded parts of the animal as you make a commemorative piece to remember your visit to beautiful Asuke and to give thanks to the gift of life received.
