Step into the rhythm of everyday life in Tokoname with an overnight stay at ROKU, a beautifully restored traditional Japanese house in the heart of the historic Pottery Footpath.
Around 130 years old, the house has been carefully renovated to preserve its character while offering the comfort of a private modern stay. Earthen walls and exposed wooden beams meet Tokoname-made tiles and ceramics, indigo-dyed details, and artwork inspired by the surrounding town.
Reserved exclusively for one group per night, ROKU accommodates up to six guests and includes a fully equipped kitchen and private bathroom, giving you the freedom to settle in and make the space your own.
Step outside and you are already among Tokoname’s old kilns, ceramic studios, galleries, and winding lanes. Wander without an itinerary, stop when a piece of pottery catches your eye, or discover a small café tucked into the neighborhood.
For dinner, explore local restaurants and izakaya, including atmospheric venues created inside renovated pottery kilns.
The following morning, join the locals for Aichi’s beloved “morning service” café culture, where coffee is often accompanied by toast or other breakfast specialties. Nearby options range from cafés known for freshly baked bread to places serving traditional mochi breakfasts.
After checking out, continue exploring the Pottery Footpath, browse galleries for a favorite piece of Tokoname ware, or visit nearby studios and cultural attractions.

Discover locally produced tiles at the entrance, a vintage wooden mold once used to make ceramic pipes, Tokoname’s iconic maneki-neko lucky cat, indigo-dyed shoji screens depicting scenes of the town, and expressive ink paintings.

Breakfast is not included, giving you the opportunity to discover Aichi’s distinctive morning café culture.
Start your day as locals do at one of the neighborhood’s popular cafés or kissaten. Enjoy freshly brewed coffee with toast or explore nearby cafés offering generous bread selections or a traditional breakfast featuring mochi.
Take your time over breakfast before heading back into the pottery district.
